Cryptoflex 32k e-gate problems

Susana Nunes
Hello!

I'm trying to work with smart cards and encountered some problems, I'm new at
this and would like some help.

I have a Cryptoflex 32k e-gate and a Schlumberger E-Gate card reader, and
compiled and instaled the following packages:

pcsc-lite-1.2.9-beta7.tar.gz
openct-0.6.4.tar.gz
opensc-0.9.6.tar.gz (with OpenSSL and PAM support)

Executing some OpenSC commands, the smart card and the card reader are
recognized:

aries:~ # opensc-tool --name -v
Connecting to card in reader Schlumberger E-Gate...
Using card driver Schlumberger Multiflex/Cryptoflex.
Card name: Cryptoflex 32K e-gate

aries:~ # opensc-tool --atr
3B 95 18 40 FF 62 01 02 01 04 ;..@.b....

Now, when trying to laod the module in Firefox / Thunderbird I get something
like this:

It seems to me that OpenSC can't reach the card. Maybe I should have tried some
options when compiling the packages, or could this be the kernel?
I've searched your archives but haven't found anything that worked.

Thanks!

Andreas Jellinghaus-2
please initialize the card first with the command line
tools like described in the QUICKSTART file.

only if that works fine and "pkcs11-tool --test --login"
is ok, it is useful to test applications like firefox or
thunderbird.

Regards, Andreas

You need only one - either only openct or pcsc-lite with e-gate
ifdhandler. OpenCT works fine with e-gate so you can work with it.

You can load the pkcs11 module even when you don't have a card in the
reader (that works faster by the way)

About your case - you first need to personalize the card (if you have
a filesystem applet on it) or you should use muscle tools if that's
not the case.

Check www.linuxnet.com
