Gemalto PC USB-TR on Linux + Firefox

Breno Jacinto Duarte da Costa
Hello everyone,

I've been working hard to put this reader to work, searched on google and found some threads on the list but no success yet. Although the card reader is detected, when trying to use, I get unsuported reader messages. I've already tried installing the latest SVN version. Maybe it is not really supported? I could not confirm this from the Wiki (it is not listed as supported nor unsupported).

     Some output that may help:

Re: Gemalto PC USB-TR on Linux + Firefox

Hello everyone,

I've been trying to get opensc work with Firefox 4 under Linux (Ubuntu 10.4). I've tried binary versions from repositores, but now I got a new box and compiled the SVN versions for:

- PCSC-lite:
pcsc-lite version 1.7.2.

Copyright (C) 2001-2010 by Ludovic Rousseau <[hidden email]>.

- ccid drivers
- opensc

My reader is a Gemalto Twin USB. It seems to be OK with PCSC:

root@brenojac-laptop:~/pcsclite/opensc# pcsc_scan
PC/SC device scanner
V /home/brenojac/pcsclite/trunk/pcsc-tools (c) 2001-2011, Ludovic Rousseau <[hidden email]>

Reader 0: Gemalto GemPC Twin 00 00
  Card state: Card inserted,
  ATR: 3B B7 18 00 C0 3E 31 FE 65 53 50 4B 32 34 90 00 25

On the other hand, I'm not being able to load OpenSC libs to Firefox. I get a "unable to load module" when trying to add: /usr/local/lib/opensc-pkcs11.so. I partially fixed it by doing  LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/lib, although this shouldnt be necessary, should it?

The problem is that OpenSC does not seem to see this reader:

root@brenojac-laptop:~/pcsclite/opensc# opensc-tool --list-readers
No smart card readers found.

When trying to access sites, they still cannot find the certificates. Any idea on how I could follow on solving this?

best regards,
