PertoSmart1038 problem

Jaime Geovane Marcondes
Dear friends,
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 32bits, with last versions of openct, pcsc and
opensc compiled.

I have following issue:

1. openct-tool list, is OK ...

root@Apol:~# openct-tool list
  0 PertoSmart EMV (AC1038, USB)

2. openct-tool -r atr is OK ...

root@Apol:~# openct-tool -r 0 atr
Detected PertoSmart EMV (AC1038, USB)
Card present, status changed
ATR: 3b 7f 14 00 00 80 41 00 57 4a 2d...

however, openct-tool read:

root@Apol:~# openct-tool -r 0 read
Detected PertoSmart EMV (AC1038, USB)
Card present, status changed
failed to read memory card: Operation not supported

using openct-tool mf:

root@Apol:~# openct-tool -r 0 mf
Detected PertoSmart EMV (AC1038, USB)
Card present, status changed
card communication failure, err=-1

There are any configuration to make or another tips to make this reader works ?

Thanks.
Jaime

This is a non-standard reader which need the OpenCT framework. You will
have no support to PIN code. Furthermore, ACS products claim Linux
compatibility, but this is more or less untested.

I recommend buying a recent USB reader with PCSC+CCID compatibility and
insert a legacy crypto card, either in card or mini SIM format.

Kind regards,
Jean-Michel

You may try to restrict /etc/opensc/opensc.conf to use only OpenCT backend, not OpenSC.

reader_drivers = openct;

Enable detailed loging and see what happens.

app default {
debug = 9;
debug_file = /tmp/opensc-debug.log;
}

Kind regards,
Jean-Michel

what does that? why do you try that?
"read" is for memory cards, and openct isn't well tested for that.
so if it doesn't work: sorry.

I only used openct with smart cards (where you send commands and
get responses, instead of trying to read the card like a piece
of memory).

but the commands you need for each card are different, so openct
can do very little.

btw: using the atr and google, I found out your card is this:
http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-CPF

but I don't speak that language, so I can't help.

Regards, Andreas
