hmm, the life cycle state is "manufacturing", this seems to be
the problem. What do you want to do with opensc and the card
(do you want to personalize etc. it with opensc or do you want
to use an already personlized card with opensc ...) ?

We want to start from scratch and personalize the cards using our openca PKI.

Hi paul, you might need to study the cardos card manual, to find out
what you can configure in manufacturing mode, which option you want
to take (as far as I remember you can move toward two different mode
and at least of of those options is final).

I never looked into those options in detail, as the only card I ever
got were in different modes, so I couldn't do such changes anyway.
If you look into those issues, I'd be very glad to get some information
on what you can do and how to do those things :-)

The cardos apdu manual is - how silly - not available to the public
as far as I know. So you need to ask the source of your cards or
you can try contacting siemens directly.

Also note that opensc 0.9.6 doesn't know that atr, so you will
need to edit opensc.conf and bind that atr to driver "etoken".
(there is already an example in the opensc.conf. note: this could
DAMAGE YOUR CARD if it is not compatible with older versions.
so this is very unlikely to cause any damage, but since I don't know
that card and don't have the documentation for it, I can't tell for
sure).

Good luck!

Regards, Andreas

did you get some software to play packages etc. on the card ?
Do you have the "Startkey" (this key is needed for the FORMAT
command to enter either ADMINISTRATION or INITIALIZATION state) ?
